Abstract

The role of the work environment on the performance of the employees. This study analysed the working conditions that influence employee productivity, health and efficiency. Using a purposive sampling technique, quantitative primary data were collected from a sample of respondents on a 5-point Likert scale with the help of a predesigned questionnaire. The results were derived through statistical tools, Hypothesis Testing, Linear Regression and Reliability tests, using SPSS. The result of the study proved that all physical factors of the working environment impact employee performance, but among all the considered variables (Ambient Noise, lighting arrangement of workplace, layout of office furniture and colour of the compartment). Attention had focused on the feelings of employees about the working environment in relation to their job performance. The main stakeholders of the study included the middle and upper-level management staff who managed the office tasks. This study provides insights to office managers to understand the usefulness of physical factors of the working environment with reference to employee performance.
